They say patience is a virtue. Some of us are more patient than others. Does your patience have a limit? What does it mean to be patient? In the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the first definition of patience is “bearing pains or trials calmly or without complaint”. It seems maybe being patient can actually cause some anxiety…right? If we look at it from another side, doesn’t it almost seem like being patient might mean sacrificing oneself?

According to the same dictionary, one definition of sacrifice is “to suffer loss of, give up, renounce, injure, or destroy especially for an ideal, belief, or end”. It seems sacrifice is actual loss. At times, maybe we are so patient that we sacrifice a bit of ourselves…too much? How do we maintain a good balance, maintain a good sense of self? This is the time and opportunity to practice living in the moment and being mindful of ourselves and not getting overwhelmed with sadness, anxiety or pain.
