Therapy during these times can be a perfect opportunity to be vulnerable with your partner. While sheltering in place, many external stressors have been removed therefore we can focus on our internal world. This can lead to opportunities for us to share more deeply with our loved one. We can be more present in the moment to know what we are feeling and make a positive choice as to how we want to express that emotion. We can also be aware when we are starting to get emotional to remind ourselves to take a breath or a time out. When we want to “run away” because nothing else seems to work, can we remind ourselves that we can’t go anywhere and instead try a different tactic like a hug?
